NIDHI - CoE (Center of Excellence)

Technology based new enterprises are high risk and high growth ventures, and they require an enabling environment like NIDHI-Centre of Excellence (NIDHI-COE) to enhance the prospects of their success. So far, a network of more than 150 STEPs/TBIs supported by the DST exists across the country, which have nurtured over 4000 startups. To further augment and scale up existing incubation activities in TBIs, the Department provides an enhanced support of Rs.50 crore in 5 years for setting up of these CoEs. The ongoing five NIDHI-CoE (Centre of Excellence) are at PSG-Science & Technology Entrepreneurial Park (PSG-STEP) at PSG-College of Technology, Coimbatore, SINE IITBombay, CIIE-IIM-Ahmedabad, TBI-Veltech University and EDC NCL-Pune. In 2021-2022, two more NIDHI-CoE support is in progress:- FIIT, IIT Delhi and T-Hub, Hyderabad.


Few success stories from NIDHI CoE:

1. Jai Kisan: Rural Focussed Neo Bank

Incubated at:   CoE at CIIE, IIM Ahmedabad

Jai Kisan is a rural focussed Neo Bank, whose application - “Bharat Khata '' provides a one stop solution for rural businesses and individual's financial needs with best suited credit products. It partners with equipment dealers, agriculture retailers, collection centers and market linkage platforms, to directly provide credit to farmers, working in the agriculture, poultry and dairy value chain. Like most fintech startups, Jai Kisan has so far relied on its banking and other financial institutions to finance credit to businesses, however, Jai Kisan will now finance 20% of all loans by itself.

    2. MyLab Discovery Solutions Pvt. Ltd

    Immunoadaptive Cell Therapy Private Limited (Immune ACT ) is a pioneer in the field of cell and gene therapy and aims at revolutionizing cancer treatment in India by developing newer technologies for cell therapy and immunotherapy applications . Recently, they have developed an indigenous, novel, and efficacious living drug called the Chimeric Antigen Receptor T cell (CAR T) therapy against B cell leukemia expressing CD19 antigen.

    • The company has started the Clinical trials for blood cancer treatment along with Tata Memorial Centre. This will make the most sophisticated therapy in cancer treatment affordable in India.
    • Raised funds of Rs. 55.75 crores from Laurus labs and their senior management.

    4. Go Floaters (SMBSure Business Solutions Pvt Ltd)

Go Floaters is building a fundamentally new way of working for mid-sized companies, startups, independent professionals and for remote workers.     5. Regeno Ventures Pvt Ltd

    Incubated at:   CoE at VelTech, Coimbatore

    Regeno Ventures Pvt Ltd was established in the year 2017 with a key vision to reduce plastic pollution by bringing in eco-friendly, sustainable, biodegradable, home compostable and fully recyclable alternatives to synthetic single use plastics. The solutions developed dissolve rapidly in hot water ensuring safe and efficient disposal. The solutions developed are non-toxic and are thus safe if accidentally consumed by animals and marine life. The solutions offer attractive mechanical and barrier properties (oxygen, water vapour and corrosion) which are comparable to synthetic plastics and thus can be chosen as a suitable alternative for packaging applications.

    NIDHI TBI

    NIDHI TBI are ecosystem institutions that are a one stop solution for the start-ups in their early vulnerable years. TBI’s support is invaluable in supporting and nurturing a start-up by providing access to critical resources during their most vulnerable stage in their lifecycle.     1. Satin Healthtech

    Incubated at: DERBI Foundation, Bangalore

    Cervisense is a portable, non-invasive point-of-care imaging device for quick, enhanced and automated Cervical Health Examination and Cancer Screening. Cervisense comprises a digital imaging device, an android-tablet application and a web application.

    • The imaging device uses advanced optical techniques to capture high-quality magnified images of the cervix for better visualization and enhanced diagnosis.
    • The images are then processed using the software, which allows the gynecologists and healthcare workers to add patient details, diagnosis, examination notes and annotations for biopsy sites.
    • The system then generates an automated visual report for patient counselling, case-referrals and treatment-follow-ups.
    • The startup has a recipient of  Nidhi Prayas Prototyping Grant – Rs. 10,00,000/-
    2. Constems.AI

    Incubated at: IIM Lucknow - EIC (IIML Incubator)

    Constems.AI has expertise in developing high-performance AI-based machine vision & vision-based inspection systems to ensure quality inspection and availability of consumer goods in the manufacturing and retail sectors. For manufacturing, the  SaaS with Edge system ensures AI based quality check on consumer goods products which ensures zero defect products reaches the end consumers, additionally, real-time OEE reports and RCA tools provides enhanced predictive and forecasting access to Quality teams. While the SaaS based product for retail, Image analytics Artificial Intelligence (AI) enabled product provides real-time availability, tracking and analytics to enhance Retail store sales.

    VDT is an indigenous R & D Company  providing Pipeline Integrity tools having two patents in the same field. VDT is determined to give fantastic products and services that combine up with esteem valuing, while at the same time building up an effective, sound & long term association with our customers, clients and suppliers.

    4. Health Sensei

    Incubated at: COEP's Bhau Institute of Innovation Entrepreneurship & Leadership

    Health Sensei provides Continuous CCU Monitoring of patient care data from any ICU monitor direct to mobile. Health Sensei facilitates improved quality of patient monitoring & patient safety, saving up to 5h/ ICU/ day through automated vitals charting and providing better care with automated early alerts.

    • Health Sensei has also successfully completed 10 Paid Hospital implementations and installed bed capacity of 126 with Annual Recurring Revenue close to 10 lakhs.

    5. WeHear

    Incubated at: GUSEC - Gujarat University Startup And Entrepreneurship Council

    WeHear is changing the way people listen, one headpiece at a time. Its innovative headphones make use of bone conduction technology which conveys sounds directly to the brain, completely eliminating the use of ears. Their current product, WeHear OX provides an open-ear and health-friendly hearing experience as an alternative to current earphones/ headphones. It bypasses the physical ear system and doesn’t damage your physical ears even on the longer period of usage.


      • In July 2021, the startup raised funds worth Rs 1.25 crore in a pre-series A round of funding from two investors, a Faridabad-based firm, Victora Group (invested an estimated Rs 1 crore) along with GUSEC through NIDHI SSS - with a funding of Rs 25 lakh. This elevated WeHear’s valuation at Rs 5 crore.
      • With GUSEC’s support comprising patent-filing support, exclusive mentorship and free co-working space, WeHear was able to publish a patent, generate 55+ jobs and also revenue of over INR 62 lakhs through their innovative endeavour.
